Composing doc on Word my keyboard started doing weird stuff. Was it I had the right shift button held down ?

a pop-up message told me if I held the right shift key for 8 secs then the "stick keys" would be activated. Although I selected cancel it did not take it back to normal. Help!
What happens now is that anywhere I place my cursor on the page it picks up text and highlights it.
What do I need to do?

Hit the Shift key 5 times and it should bring up the menu. Then choose Settings and from there, un-check the box to use Sticky keys.
