You probably won't be able to do this politely if they already don't suspect that they have overstayed a visit. You will have to just put it out there, but you might let it fall on your own shoulders: " I have appreciated your being here, but I don't do well with people in my home this way for any length of time. Can we come up with an alternative to your staying here?" It might not be easy to say to someone, but like my mom always said "what can they do. EAT you ?" And in the end, the relationship may be saved because of your honesty! Good luck!

Ask them to help you with something. Like, buy groceries, wash dishes, etc. or Tell them you have to go take care of something, then hold the door open. or just say, "Well, this has been great, but I have an early day tomorrow, so I'd better get to bed."

Are you talking about a houseguest, or a visitor?
If someone is visiting, you can say, "Look how late it is! I've really enjoyed your visit. Would you like me to get your coat for you"?
If it is a houseguest: "I hope your stay here has been comfortable. Is there anything I can do to help make your arrangements for leaving, or do you have that covered"?

Don't know that there is a polite way. Better to bite your tongue and grin and bear it...but just don't invite them again.
