Before I start any inappropiate answers wil be reported.
I had the mirena UID fitted last monday, I bled for a few hours after & had cramps & was heavily spotting for 3 days. That was to be expected. After a week when I stopped spotting altogther I thought it would be ok to have sex, but after I had terrible cramp & was bleeding, is this normal? This has happened twice. & despite having sex yesterday I'm still bleeding & have slight cramp.
I know I should see a doctor if i'm worried but If it's normal I wish not to waste her time.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Bleeding and cramping should be expected for some time, as you say. If you started bleeding after sex it could be an issue with proper placement. You are not a waste of the doctors time. The docotor and her staff of nurses would be glad to answer any questions you have, and it may be as simple as a phone call. This way she can tell you if you need to come in or not. So give them a call and tell them your symptoms and they should be able to let you know if an appointment is needed. Good luck!

A little bleeding, a little cramping is normal.
A LOT of bleeding or severe pain is not.
If it is not too bad, you could take 600 mg of Motrin and wait it out a few days. The spotting may continue, (for weeks even) but the cramping should get better over the first week.
If it doesn't improve after a few more days, call the office. At that point they will probably want to see you.

I have now got my 2nd mirena coil in, had them for years now. When i first had mine it took a few months of irregular spotting and bleeding, i think to settle down. I now don't have periods, but maybe once every four months or so i get a slight discharge, Its been great. If you see one of my other answers, it explains why i had it fitted. I was very lucky. It wouldn't hurt just to go see your doctor for a check up. Good Luck.

I have had the mirena for about a month and a half now and haven't had the problems that you are describing. The only complaint that I have about it right now is the my periods are lasting for 2 weeks instead of 1.

it can be normal to be like this but if problems keep going see the doctor ,some doctors like you to wait a few weeks before sex maybe try agin next week and if still same prob see the doctor it could be just needing a slight adjustment.
once its settled its great and i got mine as i needed protection and had heavy periods it lasts 5 yrs and periods are hardly anytihng to make a fuss ,just make sure you get your smears done .

This is pretty typical of IUD users. You're irritating your uterus by inserting a foreign object, then making the uterus spasm with contractions (hopefully you're having orgasms!), so its re-irritating the organ. This could go on for a few weeks or months, or it may never stop.

I had this problem constantly with my IUD until it finally punctured my uterus from the irritation and I had to have it surgically removed.
