Realism and international relations aside...I'd be happy to see us pull out of everywhere, just to see if these nations miss good 'ol American influence in their geo-political regions.

depends on how highly you value people from other cultures and religions. If you believe all people are equal, no matter their location then, yes, western troops should be in the middle east. Should the west stand by and watch knowing that innocent people are being murdered, tortured and worse? - I don't think so. If the middle eastern problems could be sorted out by way of a one-off, see-you-on-the-playing-fields-after-school type of way then that would be fine, but that is not the case.;a minority of very evil people will indiscriminately bomb and massacre children just for the sake of pointless killing. Western troops in the middle east is a clear sign that humanity exists in this world, those who would deny that only confuse the issues and make matters worse.

Yes if not the middle east will be in the west. We already went now is not the time for that question. Need to concentrate on the future and see how to fix things there is no way we can turn back the clock or history.

Should or shouldn't does matter at this point. The president of Iran has grand delusions of being the next Hitler. So we'll be there for a while.

And yes, I think we should be there.
