The tear duct leads both to the eye and to the nasal passages. That is why your nose runs when you cry. I would suspect that yours has eroded so that the connection is open between the nasal passages and the tear duct. You did not mention any nasal infections or damage to the nasal passages but I would have this looked into by a doctor.
I agree that this would be socially embarrassing so you might want to refrain from blowing your nose in the future.. At least do not blow it violently.

This sounds like your cat could possibly have a upper respitory virus (Feline viral rhinotracheitis) FVR Initial symptoms of FVR include coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, conjunctivitis, and sometimes fever and loss of appetite. The symptoms usually resolve within four to seven days, but secondary bacterial infections can cause persistence of symptoms for weeks. Antibiotics are used to prevent secondary bacterial infections. There are no specific antiviral drugs in common use at this time for FVR. More severe cases may require supportive care such as intravenous fluid therapy, oxygen therapy, or even a feeding tube. Conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers are treated with topical antibiotics for secondary bacterial infection. L-lysine has been recommended anecdotally to suppress viral replication. Take your cat to the Vet and he can tell you whats wrong with your poor kitty. It is possible that it's just a cold but if it is thick creamy mucus chances are that its not. Better to be safe than sorry.

Well, I had this happen to me once when I had a bad case of allergies that lead to a bad sinus infection. You should see a doctor and listen to what the doc has to say.

You need to see an ENT (Ear Nose Throat) physician who specializes in sinuses.

It sounds like a sinus cavity problem to me.
