The first Indian centurion in test cricket was Lala Amarnath, with 118 against England on debut in December 1933. He hit his only test ton in just 117 minutes, with 21 fours and no sixes.

Lala Amarnath was the first Indian to score a Test Match Century

He scored 118 runs in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test Match of 1933/34 series played against England at the Gymkhana ground Bombay from 15th to 18th december 1933. England won that match by 9 wickets. .
