Check to make sure it has been enabled in the BIOS first. On boot up normally get into BIOS by pressing either "Delete" key or one of the "F" keys - look at the screen and it will tell which key. Go through all the options until you find AC97 sound card listing and make sure it is enabled - Don't change any other setting! Go to option to save to CMOS and save. Restart your computer and check status of sound card with within Windows.

Get it at my link. Scroll down to Realtek ALC Series AC97 Audio Driver. It is always better to get it direct from the source - in this case MSI (MicroStar). That way you get the latest version (in this case 1/9/2007 ver 5.10.00.6203)

See the link below for your driver. Just make sure you download the proper driver corresponding with the version of Windows you're running.

you've some airborne dirt and mud on the pins of the chip causing a short (albeit ultimately). Open the case up and sparkling interior. in case you get no better effective consequences, you'll decide on a separate sound card. in case you do, be particular to disable the on-board one contained in the BIOS.
