I just posted this exact question last week and got no love with it.

I have to say Sand and Comic Sans would be the worst. There was recently a poll in Print magazine (i believe). One person said the following: "at least comic sans has a purpose, in comic books. Sand has no reason for existing." I however hate comic sans because it is used by anyone and everyone as a "handwritten effect," which looks like ***. You can actually buy bumper stickers that say "ban comic sans."

Arial is close enough to helvetica to not be the worst, but I still would never use it. All the rest you listed are pretty rough.

My favorite sans typefaces are almost all by adrian frutiger (avenir, frutiger, univers), but as for sans, I'd rock out to Emigre's Filosofia and Mrs Eaves. I could never choose one, because you can't (er...helvetica, if used correctly?).

Hahaha, I was going to say Times New Roman too. Like really people? IT's ugly as ****, and its on everything. And the Ms outlook? A bunch of symbols? Come on people. This is Canada. OR maybe American for you. I hate the monotype corsiva. The cursive crap. Whats the point of using a computer if you're going to use cursive? I always liked, Arial Narrow and Garamond. Although I kind of grew out of that stage and went into the Tahoma stage as well.

from the basic list i dont like seeing Papyrus and Stencil on public signs etc, i think they look tacky. Otherwise, the real funky grundge like scripts sometimes seem useless.
not sure i have a favorite, i like skia and zapfino

I hate "Times New Roman". My favorite that I use in most of my documents is "Tahoma".

"Times New Roman" should be renamed: "Old Roman Times" or something equally descriptive.
