The term universe derives from Latin: uni = one, or single, and versus=to turn - literally the ALL TURNED INTO ONE. As such, the universe is the totality of energy and matter whether observable by humans or not.

If we're not talking in science or factual terms then I assume you want to talk in fiction or non-factual terms.
I like the marble analogy or the locker analogy in MIB and MIB 2.
Just a part of the whole.
No better or worse than any other, just another part.

The Universe is space. Space is the Universe. The space is expanding. The Universe is all that there is in this space-time continuum. There may be other universes, but it is pointless to think of them as somehow next door or something like that.

My opinion is that it is a word with a meaning we can look up in a dictionary. Dictionary.com says it is, "The totality of known or supposed objects and phenomena throughout space; the cosmos; macrocosm".

The universe is a space-time entity that started some time in the past and matured and evolved into us, and what we experience to-day.

The universe if fairly well defined by scientists. Why would you want to know "opinions" of strangers about what it is? That's like asking us to give you our opinions of what a brain is, or what a tree is. Waste of time.

OK...in a non-scientific way, the universe is everything you can see, touch, smell, imagine, and believe. It is everything that was, everything that is, and everything that will be. It is sum total of every living beings' experiences.

well the universe just exists as a medium for us to exist in, we are just passing throught this 'universe'.it is like a home we live in to get tested on how well we put to use what we are taught.
