To restore Windows XP welcome music, do this:

- Open "Control Panel"

- If you have the category view, under "Pick a category" click "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices", then, under "Pick a task" click "Change the sound scheme".

- If you have the classic view, double-click the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon, then click the "Sounds" tab.

- Either way, you now have a window titled "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties", under "Sound scheme" you should see a small menu, open it and scroll to "Windows Default", click it and a "Save Scheme" message will appear. If you want to save your previous scheme (if you changed it before) click "Yes" and enter save name, otherwise click "No".

- Now your welcome music should be restored, to make sure of that, in the same window under "Program events" scroll the long menu until you see "Start Windows", click it and then click the small "Play sound" button beside the "Browse" button, your welcome music theme should play. Click "OK" to close the window.
