Twice.

Once was because I wrote IBM 'threatening' e-mails (we were stuck using their O/S2 operating system due to a lawsuit where some guy claimed that people had stolen his propietary software--we were immune because ours didn't run on windows) they refused to support it, even if it was a brand new copy and wanted $200 per incident for tech support. I told them they should be drug out in the street and shot. They promptly told my company to fire me or they would be sued. Fortunately they still gave me a good reference, and I'm still friends with the people I worked with.

The second time was a stupid tech support job handling Bellsouths 'fast access' DSL at a call center. I was doing it to supplement my sporadic income from a computer business I was helping to run. I really didn't care about the job, but I always helped people (same reason I'm addicted to Yahoo! answers), I would tell them stuff we weren't supposed to tell them, and fixed problems we weren't supposed to fix. I kept getting written up for giving a damn about the customers, and finally got fired for using 'improper hold procedures' since we were supposed to ask the customer if it was 'okay if i place you on hold', and I had been switching between the customer and the people who were testing their line several times, I had them to try their connection, and when it didn't work, I told them to 'hold on a second' and switched.

After they informed me that I was being let go, I told my supervisor (who was a corporate stooge anyway) that they were providing substandard tech support, and needed to quit worrying about idiotic procedures and call times (mine were well under the average anyway) and start focusing on fixing peoples problems.

The funny thing is, they lost the bellsouth account a few months later anyway - and I ended up in my current career doing electrical design - five years and running.

I have never been fired, although I should have been on several occassions. I have told my boss's relative that worked right close with us to go F-himself and she heard me and he threatend to have me fired but I told him to go F-himself again and I quite! So maybe if I had of stuck around a few minutes longer I could've been fired but I was a little to mad to waite and find out. No regrets!

Not fired, but laid off. I had worked in a convenience store for almost 23 years (for three different owners) when 9-11 happened. The owner of the store got laid off as a direct result so he decided to run the store himself. He had to then lay one of us two "girls" off. It was either me or the legally blind girl who lived in the apartment in the back of the store that was sole support of her and her two kids. So, for obvious reason, he chose me. Still, I was upset! I got a better job, though.

Never! But I may get fired from this one because I am always on Yahoo answers when I should be working.

No, never go fired. I wish I could get fired from my current job sometimes. Currently a housewife. ;)

3 actually, all for telling my bosses what I thought of them and their jobs. You'd think I'd learn a lesson but hey, I just can't help bad habits.

ps Sorry for having a go at you last week

Have fun :)
