my baby was crying a lot. especially when ever we tried lay her on the bed or in hand. she was having gas problem. Doctor suggested to give colicaid for releaseing gas. after we fed colicaid syrup, unusually she started drinking the milk continously for more than 30 minutes. when we stopped the breast feeding, it started crying again. so we fed with lactogen. she drunk that. after that also not stopped crying. then we thought she may have ear pain. So we put ear drops. then also she cried. then we put coolimax drops for stomach pain. then also she was crying. then finally we put paracetamol three drops. after that she started sleeping in the night. we struggled almost 4 to 5 hours in the night. what would have happened. why did she drink the milk so much? why she started crying, whenever we stopped feeding. Can we give paracetamol to a 20 days old baby.

Your baby is WAY too young to be getting all of the medication you gave her last night - and it seems like the only thing the doctor gave the ok on is the colicaid.

You should not give a baby younger than SIX MONTHS any medication unless directed by a doctor. ok?

If your baby was crying when you took the milk away, the most likely explanation is that she was still hungry. Some babies need to nurse longer than others, depending on their eating style. My baby was a slow eater - she needed to nurse for 20 minutes on each side to get enough milk.

Tylenol is OK to give an infant.

Children that young frequently interpret any belly pain as hunger. So if he drinks fast and has gas pains he doesn't know enough to stop and burp, you need to do it for him. If he drinks a little too much and feels full he may still think he's hungry. Or if he is about to have a bowel movement- same thing.

As a parent you have to make decisions...maybe stopping at 15 minutes and having him burp would help. I wonder if mixing formula and breastmilk would upset his tummy. I've also had babies that have a big poop after every feeding and are restless and fussy until they get it out. Perhaps this child will be colicky for a few months, you'll have a long road ahead. Try a heated washcloth on her tummy for comfort. The longer you get to know your baby the more you will know about what does and doesn't work.

Just in my opinion myself I would slow down on the medication. If an infant is crying in pain I would rather fix the source of the pain if I could. Plus I'm a little paraniod about putting medications regularly in such a tiny body. If a little Tylenol helps once in a while, great. If you find yourself using it every night, or even every week there is more going on and your baby should see a doctor if she hasn't already.

At 10 days old it is normal for a breastfed baby to drink for that long. My baby would go from 15 minutes. Once she got about 3 weeks she cut down to about 5 to 10 minutes. Now she'll go about 5 minutes or a little more. For a 20 day old baby I wouldn't give her to much meds or to many different things. They have such tiny stomachs. Some babies like to be held all day. Mine did and it drove me crazy. But I got through it. She is now 5 months. Mylecon is really good for gas and if you are thinking something is wrong with her airs. You should let her pediatrician check it out and give her the proper antibiotics if she has an infection. Don't forget that newborns tend to over eat. You feed them and they will just eat and eat and spit and spit!!! That's just natural for them. They have no knowledge on when enough is enough.

i wouldnt give paracetamol to a baby this young without first seeking advice from a medical professional... your baby may well of been very hungry, they have days when they eat loads and days when they dont.. make sure you wind your baby well after feeding even if she is crying through this, once you have windered her well offer the bottle again and repeat the steps...

do seek medical advice before you give such a young baby ANY medication so you dont over medicate or give anything that she shouldnt have at such a young age... else you would never forgive yourself should something happen
