I've colored my hair through 3 pregnancies and all kids came out fine. I got highlights so the dye didn't really touch my scalp, but I think it's fine. You probally get more chemicals from the processed food we eat and the plastic they are microwaved in.

Like a hair dye? The safest thing while you're pregnant is actually doing the highlight or low-light thing because they put that cap on your head and the chemicals don't actually touch your scalp.
I think I read that some of the temporary home dyes are okay too, so long as you're in a well ventilated area.
I don't know about other chemical processes, but I'd err on the side of caution if I were you.

i am 32 weeks along and am battling with a similar issue.. my doctor told me to wait till after the first trimester-- the issue is the passage of the chemicals from the scalp into your blood stream to your child- since most scientists are very hesitant to test chemicals on a pregnant woman t see the reaction there is conflicting answers to this.. most women go without coloring( much to the amusement to those who had no idea that the woman had greys naturally...)there is the thought that highlighting is better since the coloring agent never touches the scalp.. the other thought is the chemical smell that is released during processing.. best suggestion i can give--call a hair saloon and ask your doctor for their advice..

I've heard that you should wait until after the first trimester to dye your hair. It is NOT safe to perm or relax your hair at any time during pregnancy. but you can dye it after 14 weeks. be careful though... your body may react differently than usual, and you may end up with a color you didn't want. be sure you do it in a well ventilated area, too.

My hairdresser has a policy of never cutting a pregnant woman's hair, because we always get nuts and star wanting to change our do's uring gestation, then hate it afterward; Dyeing hair is no problem - he even colored his wife's hair all through both of her pregnancies.
My OB-Gyn also confirmed that there is no evidence that hairdye is dangerous to a fetus.

It's safe as long as it doesn't smell strong. I'm 8 weeks 5 days and I dyed my hair in my 7th week. You'll be ok. I've dyed my hair in all my pregnancies and my kids are fine.
