280 kilometer = 173.9839338 mile

Unit Definition (kilometer)
The kilometer is one of the most common metric units of length or distance. One kilometer equals exactly 1000 meters (metres), about 0.62137119 mile, 1093.6133 yards, or 3280.8399 feet.

Unit Definition (mile)
The mile is one of the most common measurements of distance. It originates from the Latin word for 1000, 'mille'. Originally a mile was the distance a Roman legion could march in 1000 paces. In medieval Britain, several mile units were used, including the modern mile defined as 8 furlongs (1609 meters). Note that French, Scottish and Irish miles varied from the English. In 1592, Parliament defined the statute mile to be 8 furlongs or 1609.344 meters.

There's approximately 60mph to 100km/h.

So 60 x [280/100]
= 60 x 2.8
= 168mph

Danged fast! Holy smokes, that's almost 175 miles per hour.

One kilometre is equivalent to 1,000 meters or 0.6215 miles
Hence 173.98393382645352 or 174 miles is the conversion.

160.9 km = 100miles

The formulas used are:

MPH = kph * 0.6215
kph = MPH * 1.60934

Another way of expressing it is:
--------------------------------
Miles per hour (mph) ---> Kilometers per hour (kmh): mph x 1.609 = kmh
Kilometers per hour (kmh) ---> Miles per hour (mph): kmh / 1.609 = mph

To experience the rush this must give the driver, check out the Video Awards clip "Dangerous: Full speed 185 mph - 300 kmh" at http://www.thevideoawards.com/details/?id=43b10c7d-e789-4223-afe9-0edd03c2897c

Actually, if you do the calculation, it's 297.665 kmh, but close enough to 300 we'll let them get away with rounding. :)
