If you move to a state that does not recognize your union, then the union is simply not valid there, and the things the union grants are not granted.

You do not get a divorce. You are simply not married.

I don't know why people get so caught up in supposed symantics of marriage. First and foremost, a marriage is a legal contract between two people recognized by the government. That's why you can get married by a local official or judge. The part of about man and woman is a dictated by a societal norm that frankly needs to be done away with completely.

Fine if you don't want to call it marriage call it something else but don't discriminate against people out of your own ignorance.

Normally, when there is this kind of quandary, the federal government gets involved in defining the protection, but the federal government isn't going to touch this in this hostile, emotional environment.

I think anybody who cares if gay people get married is a bit of an irrational nutjob. Honestly, why would they care that others want a formal commitment when they acknowledge that it happens without the formal commitment?

It's a case of people running headlong into rationality and reason, and then tossing it aside in favor of their prejudice. But que sara, sara.

i believe that technically, in the eyes of the law you are still married as the marriage certificate is from the state where it is legal.

I don't really know the answer but I suggest you check with the courts. And for Sweet Granny 06, God loves us all and unlike some he doesn't judge.

There is not and can be no real gay marriage. God does judge us all and those who violate his commandments will be punished. That is why there are so many terrible diseases in the world today.

Its not even a "real" marriage so I do not see how any of this matters.

And to Kitkat- God DOES judge, make no mistake about that!
