A mere 5% of babies are born on their due date. 80% are born within 10-14 days either way, adding up to 85%. A baby born before 37 weeks in considered premature.

Now some sad but true facts to remeber or to briefly discuss; 1 in 5 pregnancies end in misscarriage, before the heart starts beating, so porbably before the person knew they were pregnant. And misscariage at later stages arent overly uncommon either.

So to get a honest, true, exact answer....... There isnt one. Keep aiming towards the due date and remember that if you go into labour a fortnight before, its far from uncommon.

hi, i wouldn't know how many babies are born on their due date, but going from my experience the dating they give for your dating scan is quite accurate. I had early dating scans with both of my children and i was doing some research on your topic and on babyworld.com it says the earlier you have your scan the more accurate the date will be and if you have your scan after 13 weeks then it can only be as accurate as up to 2 weeks dating margin.with my first child i was gave a date of the 14th of november and he was born in the evening of the 9th of november. with my second child i was gave a date of the 12th of october and she was born on the 11th of october.
It really depends when the baby wants to make an appearance.

Hmmm I read statistically that one in twenty is born on their due date but to be fair it realy does depend on the source as ive seen different figures quoted elsewhere. I have two children (third on its way) and my first two were both born on their due date, but I dont have any friends whose babies arrived on time so guess I was extra lucky!!!

My first child was 2 days early, my second child was 5 days early and my third child was 8 days early. Not many are actually born on their due date.

I forget exactly, I know my dr. had given me a statistic when I was pregnant but its not many - most babies do not arrive on the actual due date. My first was late and my second was early! Check out the link below for some more answers to your question.

I don't know what the stats are, but I know having three babies, two were born right near their due date and one was two weeks late.
