I have just read 'life on the other side' by a Sylvia Brown. I was recommended her book. She says that before we choose to come to earth we choose a primary and secondary life theme. Anyone have any thing to say on this subject?

Primary life theme = what you are here to do. (your purpose)
Secondary life theme = that side of your personality that prevents/stops/hinders your progress on the primary theme.

You choose these yourself before you are born, on the other side you are so ecstatic/joyful you believe you can accomplish anything, you set such challenging tasks for yourself and when you finally die (on a date/time/place of your choosing) you assess your life and see if you accomplished your original objectives. Simple really ;o).

I think it's an interesting concept and as I believe in reincarnation and that we are all here for some purpose then it would make sense that we would choose certain circumstances. We may perhaps choose where to be born, or into what kind of family! We may even sub-consciously know what we are coming here to learn or to do and it's our thoughts and instincts that lead us to the circumstances where we can accomplish the tasks. Whether it's right or not, I don't know but I find that if I look at the things that have happened in my own life and think why did they happen or what did I learn from it happening I can usually find a reason!

Well I've read Derek Acorah's book & he says that we choose our life path before we come to earth but he doesn't mention anything about a secondary life theme. He says we choose our life path to make up for the past life we've had before & the mistakes we've made, until eventually we have learnt all that we need to learn & can enter in to the kingdom of God forever.
It's a very interesting concept & I am extremely fascinated by it. I am going to read the book that you have just mentioned also.

I believe that we do choose where we are going to be and who is going to be in our lives from our family to our friends before we are born, but i also believe that we choose our soul mates too.Going on the primary and secondary themes i believe we already know which route to take and whichever one we have chosen has already been done before, which is why de ja vu crops up sometimes or we recognise that we have seen a person/place before.
Our dreams i believe can represent the past and the future but how do we know we have not visited the future before? or mabe we have have but we have not worked it out yet!

Interesting idea isn't it? Opens up a different perspective on our lives from the one we are given by our teachers and parents as a child.

It empowers us to accept all aspects of life, even when they seem unfair.

Because we consider ourselves responsible for circumstances, by virtue of having 'chosen' them before we are born.

This may be useful psychologically, because it is empowering. However, whether it's true or not is another thing!

We all tell our kids things in order to help them grow- but it's not always the truth...

I've read this before too and it is really interesting. It's almost putting enthasis on life as a great big test.

I'm not completely convinced but i would like to believe it, because if this is true then we don't have to fear death and there actually is hope for us all no matter what!..
