This article says the Clinton campaign raised the questions:

http://www.insightmag.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=5D3B38F8A2584DB5A77BA05660C6045C&nm=Free+Access&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&tier=4&id=B85E731B7602454BBFE7451111C6C4EC

It is apparently a very right-wing source, but they have stuck by their story.

I'm not asking whether or not the stories about Obama are true, but rather who first raised them.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please give me a cite to the Times story if possible - I know that registration on the site may be requited, in which case it would be hard to get one.

Thanks.

Here is a link to the NYT story:

Registration is required, I believe.

Interesting - maybe it's just me, but maybe both articles seem to be conflating the issues, to varying degrees. I'm not interested in what kind of school he attended as much as who was investigating it.

If he had not attended a Muslim school, the story about the Clinton camp investigating it (if true) would still be an issue!

Steve is right...i read that article in another question a couple of weeks ago. Hilary's camp has stated that it was not her, and the NY times stated that it came form reps. The reason? Of course to discredit BOTH Obama and Hilary. And yes, fox news is the one who stated it was Hilary. They also stated that Foley was a democrat. 5 times, before they realized they 'made a mistake'.

The NY Times put out a story the following day saying that Republicans had released the story as an attempt to discredit Clinton and Obama and build dissention among Democrats. Believe who you want. A right-wing propaganda rag or the NY Times.

You should ask yourself this question: Who has the most to gain?Answer: Hilary Clinton. Who thinks the White House ought to be delivered to her on a silver platter? Can you guess who? Also take into consideration that she has to get the nomination first. Obama is just in the way.

Insight Mag says they stand by their story.

Sure they claimed it was obtained by unnamed sources.

But so were the allegations about Bush having done cocaine. Unsupported allegations by unnamed sources. So, in that case, why did CNN make a big deal of the allegation and demand Bush answer the question, but in this case attack the news channel that simply reported the allegation?

Does anybody see the contradiction, the double-standard, the hypocrisy and bias here?

I don't have any proof, but my guess is the Clintons. At this point Republicans have no reason to attack him, he's not leading in the polls. Unless & until he becomes the Democratic nominee, there is no reason for Republicans to waste time & resources on him. In fact it would make more sense politically for Republican to hide such info untill the general election campaign.

Insight is the source and when "caught" decided to blame it on Clinton's camp. But, isn't that what liars do... point fingers at others to deflect their own wrong doing?

I total agree with Yup...The Clintons because the Republicans would have nothing to gain at this point...

Indirectly, the answer is "anyone who feels threatened" by his candidacy.
