c'mon people!you are being pathetic, but it's not your fault completely. people tend to have different opinions about almost everything but when it comes to Valentine's day there are only two groups of people:
1.people who like Valentine's day- this kind of people are involved in successful relationship, and by celebrating Valentine, they celebrate their love (every day number of this kind of people is unfortunately rapidly decreasing)
2.people who don't like Valentine's day- they are not born with hatred against this particular day, but their misfortune in finding perfect love, made them to be pathetic and cynic when it comes to celebrating this day. But they are not willing to admit this so they are saying like "Vday is for suckers!" "it just a trick to sell chocolates etc...".

my advice is- Go out at Valentine's day and find a boyfriend. It will be just great if he is THE ONE. Don't you think it would be rather romantic to celebrate Vday as your anniversary?
(if i have some mistakes, sorry. You see I am not a native speaker.:))

Valentines Day is just a day to get your significant other (man) to buy his woman a gift. If you are in a good relationship Valentines Day should come more than once a year. Why hate the day because your last boyfriend bought another woman flowers that cost 60 dollars. Those same flowers the day after Valentines Day was not even worth half that. Flowers die but teddy bears are forever.

I love Valentine's day. It's like any other holiday or occasion, it's not the money someone spends on you, it's the time that is spent with you. I understand why you are upset, I would be too. But be grateful you found out, not ALL men are like that. Find a better one and move one. I don't like the stuffed animals, just give me chocolate! lol I used to Cherish the times when my kids were young and we all made each other a homemade card. We'd spend and afternoon cutting, gluing, glittering. What a blast, and I still have some of their cards. Then we would have to write their names on all their cards for school and tape a piece of candy or some gum to each card. They would be so excited when they got home and search through their stash of candy and cards. Now, these are memories. Some day you will have such memories that you will Cherish forever. I don't expect my husband to take me out, I make a really nice dinner and just love each other for who we are. Oh, wait, we do that every day! Good luck in finding love and finding what the real meaning of Valentine's day is.

No, actually, I think it's an opportunity to show someone you care about how you feel. It also helps to renew & cement old relationships, which, in our busy lives, we sometimes fail to take the time to show it on a daily basis. However, I do think chocolates & especially flowers& dinner out are a waste of money to give at that time, because of the increased costs & bad service that seem to accompany that day. Buying something in advance that someone has been wanting or even cooking dinner, bringing a romantic card that expresses your feelings or picking your own flower from the garden is a better idea.

I have a boyfriend who has been deployed or training two out of the almost four years that we've been together. It is no big deal to me. I agree that it is just another holiday where they try to make you pointless things that supposedly show how much you love someone. If my boyfriend spent time with me and showed me love, that's all I would need for Valentine's Day. I don't expect a whole lot. Valentine's Day is everyday for me!

To ruin Valentines Day because of his actions is wrong. Don't let him do that to you. Valentines Day is a great time to tell those you care about how you feel. I am sure you have people in your life besides the loser who you can express your feelings to. Think of those you do love and love you. Don't dwell on the things you can not change. Valentine's Day is also a good pick me up during these long cold days of winter. You don't have to be in love with someone to tell them you care about them.

Vday is the biggest waist of time because a guy should be willing to spend his time/money on you reguardless of the day.

Aww, sorry to hear that your boyfriend spends more money on the other woman. On the other hand, that kind of means he's paying her to be his girlfriend, which says bad things about the two of them. I think that there's no real reason to have to celebrate love on a specific holiday. It should be an everyday sort of thing. It is a "waste of time" to everyone excpet the card-making and chocolate/candy companies.

I want to give love, happiness and care to my loved ones all thru the year, instead on a particular occasion. I feel that media hypes these thing too much by adding spice to it. Companies find such occasions to advertise their fancy products to increase their sale and make it commercially viable. But then I don’t see anything wrong by expressing your interest or love for someone with a small token………….flower, card anything which you could afford………….no need to overload your pocket

I have a similar phobia of v-day. I had one guy take me out for a really nice dinner at an expensive restaurant, bought me tons of gifts then later back at his place, I fell asleep, we both had a little to drink, & he was on the phone with some chick he used to date! A few years later, I was engaged & was supposed to get married on v-day. It was on a Friday that year so my fiance packs a bag on v-day, the day we were to be married which had been postponed at this point & says he's going to spend the weekend with his new girlfriend! I feel your pain sister!! Go out with some single girlfriends, forget the guys that night & you know you won't get screwed over!
