I wish to bring my new motorcycle from India to USA. Has anybody gone through this process of getting a motorcycle from India to USA or is aware of the pitfalls?

If you get past the problems geo46er listed, there is still the problem of service and spare parts. You may be able to do your own work, but can you get the parts without having to get them through customs too?

If the particular motorcycle you are trying to import has not or does not meet certain DOT or EPA standards it will not be allowed in the country. Exceptions are bikes that are 25 years or older. Better check into it, I have read articles about bikes being seized by customs ageants crushed and disposed of at owners expense.
