can see it on my driveway, but why the burning smell? Is this expensive to fix?

I could be expensive to fix. Chances are the oil is coming into contact with your hot engine from the pre-existing leak you know about.

But, it could be something internal as well. Keep an eye on your oil levels (when your engine is cold) and if you notice your oil getting low, then either the leak is bigger than you though or your engine is burning oil.

Depending on the area of the oil leak will determine the cost to repair. If it is a gasket or seal, you will have to pay a few hundred dollars at a mechanic shop.

If you begin to think it is burning oil from the inside, you can purchase an engine prodect that you can place in your engine that will help it to stop burning oil. This is a temporary fix though.

My best recommendation right now is to get a friend who knows something about cars to look at it. Even if your friend can't fix it you will still know a bit more about the problem. Just offer them a 6 pack of beer for their services. It works for me!

Best of luck.

If the valve cover gasket has a leak in it, the hot oil would run down over the hot parts on the outside of your motor, burning the oil enough to make it smoke a little, plus smell just like you described. It's just my first thought.

The oil is burned up on the hot engine and exhaust manifold/ pipes causing the burning smell. Better find the source of the oil leak. Take it in for an oil change and ask them to check for leaks when they have it up on the lift.

Chances are you have a leak in the valve cover which is dripping onto the hot exhaust. Not terribly expensive or hard to fix, remove the valve covers, scrape off any trace of the old gasket, put in a new one and bolt it back together. I'd suggest you do it or have it done quickly though. Hot exhaust plus oil drip can equal vehicle fire.

no longer something poor, yet between the substantial purposes of oil is cooling of the surfaces it lubricates. With the oil pool in the sump being decreased, and the comparable oil being circulated greater effective than two times as in many cases as regularly occurring, the oil that keeps to be gets warmer and a while a lot swifter than prevalent. The effect is similar to going a protracted time between oil alterations. bypass forth and sin not greater. save a watch on the oil point and you're able to be ok.

Oil is leaking onto the exhaust manifold from the valve covers.

could cost around $300.00 to replace the gaskets.
