The theme makes several profound and idealistic points about life and love. So, that's pretty much the theme.

The moral is mostly how unique one feels for each relationship is in reference to others, especially of course what you feel for the one you most love.

See below for more reference. Sparknotes covers themes, motifs and symbols from the book.

The theme is an existentialist one. The basic gist of De St. Exupery's version of existentialism is that life is absurd, but we all still have a natural conscience and obligation to do right.

The title is "THE Little Prince", by the way, just so you don't get it wrong in your paper, or whatever you're doing.

The key phrase in the book is "L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux" = "That which is essential is invisible to the eyes" implying that though we cannot see what is right, we do still KNOW what is right. That is the lesson that the little prince learns on his journey and sees so many people living their lives wrong.

Each planet he visits before he reaches Earth is symbolic of a class of people. Aristocracy, working class, intellectuals, addicts, and so forth, and he learns more and more from each one, concluding that they are all sort of missing the point.

It's a beautiful book about retaining one's innocence.

Well my French class never got to finish reading it because no one brought their book in and my teacher just got fed up, but from what I read, it's really about understanding love and life.
