no.. its just an image thing.. urban youths / hip-hop culture is the NBA's main target market, especially for clothing and merchandise.

most basketball player's roots are from the urban streets where street-ball and its hip-hop culture gangsta image is important. so if thats where majority of the players are from, thats how they'll look.. doesn't mean they are thugs..

sure, there a couple of sour apples, but every sport has those..

That is definitely a hidden racist question man. Just because your black doesn't mean you listen to hip-hop and rap. Furthermore, rap and hip-hop doesn't have to be negative anyway. It depends on what you listen to.

Personally, I do not believe it has had any impact on the NBA. Do you ask that because the majority of players are African American? Maybe they listen to Country or Rock. Is it just because they are African American that they would have to listen to hip-hop/rap?

no & it's absolutely ridiculous to connect the 2. why cause most players are balck & so are most rappers? thats why i thought it was so stupid when they made the dress code to deter players from wearing supposed hip hop apparel to games.

basically you're asking if black people are negatively influencing the nba......i'm gonna go ahead and say no considering nobody wants to watch white people play basketball.
