Dr Mahathir said that "Singapore doesn't really care about opinion of its neighbours" "SIngapore believes the most important things is what profit Singapore." "You will go no where with them either being nice or tough-They (Singapore)only think of themselves"
Singapore being a ‘tiny red dot’ does not have any natural resources like Indonesia and Malaysia for export or vast land for cultivation of food. Even water is scarce due to limited land. So every decision made is important for a small country especially decisions that have an economical impact. A small mistake can be big for a small country.
Building bridge or not is another example that will affect Singapore on their number one in Seaport. We do not know what is Malaysia up to that's why we would negotiate its construction if there is a balance of benefits on both sides. Benefits that include Malaysia supplying Singapore with sand and giving it access to Malaysian air space.

Malaysian officials said such bargaining was unacceptable.
Malaysia had threaten us to cut water supplies and also ban to export sand to Singapore in 1996. Singapore then came out a newater created by SIngapore. We drink recyle water then, come on threaten and by few years later we can support ourselves fully on our own water.
Recently, Indonesia also said that they will ban sand export to Singapore. We are very sad to hear that.
See, Singapore a tiny dot with no natural resources. Dr Mahathir said : "SIngapore believes the most important things is what profit Singapore." ........
With such a neighbour around us, how can we not think of ourselves? And how can we just let other big country bullying Singapore? The situation is just like you squeezing a tiny pimple (Singapore)... Do you really want Singapore to beg down asking for help?
Singapore can says to be top few countrys in the world. How can a tiny dot / pimple achieve so much within 42 years? It's all because

TO VENIE..Maybe you are too young to understand..
However, this does not mean selfish. I cannot deny the fact that Singapore looks into what benefits our own country first, but this is for the sake of our own people. Any mistake in decision making can cause a significant impact inside and outside the country. Therefore, Singapore is not selfish but wise and considerate.
We are not like other country that do things without consideration.. :P,....
IF YOU saying us self fish? haha, maybe you should learn from us as u all might be top in whole world? hehe...

Well, to a certain extent, what this article is emphasising can be true. Being the smallest country in Southeast Asia and yet the fastest country in terms of development, it is no doubt that every single decision made has to carefully considered.
However, this does not mean selfish. I cannot deny the fact that Singapore looks into what benefits our own country first, but this is for the sake of our own people. Any mistake in decision making can cause a significant impact inside and outside the country. Therefore, Singapore is not selfish but wise and considerate.
Just imagine, how can a person, who cannot even handle his or her problems, try to help others? Therefore, everyone should know that when one wants to lend a helping hand, he or she must be able to handle his or her personal matters first.
Moreover, what are the neighbours doing when they feel threatened? Threaten to cut off water supply all these! Why must they do all these? Aren't they doing this for themselves also? If Singapore is selfish, then so are they. Why cant they just work out some ways to win Singapore rather than doing all those threatening jobs.
Coming to think, if the neighbours can be as thoughtful as Singapore, I seriously think that the people will have a better living instead of having a wide wealth gap. It will not only benefits the people but also the country in terms of economical impact.
Despite all the threatens, Singapore continued to help Malaysia in every ways. A good example will be floods in Johor. Theres no need to go into details as the actions could simply say a thousand words.
"Singapore does't really care about opinions of its neighbours". This statement has been over-generalized. From this statement, we could simply see how many small details have been overlooked and, the consciousness and way of handling small details of Dr Mahathir.

I really dont think you want to ask anything with all your crappy questions.
You expect malaysian will agree with your garbage thought?
And you are expecting decent answer from Malaysian and you will admit that you are wrong?
Certainly you not because we are looking this matter in different perspective.
So why bother to raise all these question in Malaysia travel section?
You want to be a hero or something?
Even if you put all your thought in Singapore travel you will not get 100% people agree with you.
If you fell that you are a big hotshot of political science student form Singapore university, I suggest you put your thought somewhere else. Like www.iamsingaporehotshot.sg or maybe www.kiasu.blogspot.com.

A Singaporean like you who claim to be modern and the top 10 in the world, why do you keep on posting and slamming Malaysia in this section?
Is that an attitude of a civilized yet industrialized society behaving toward one and another?

dr mahathir's point of view is based on his 22 years experience with singapore. let the old man speak, there must be some truth in it if not 100%.
Like a wiseman says, the truth sucks
not sure what is your basis in addressing your view
