i had gas. lots of very loud gas. we all laughed about it (my family, the doctors, the nurses) because there was nothing i could do to stop it. i don't know if i had a BM or not because i was numb from the epidural... but if i did, nobody said anything about it. it's very normal. they just grab some gauze or something, wipe it away, and get back to baby business.

Yes....alot of women have a bowel movement during delivery. You are using the same muscles to push baby out as you would to have a bm. Don't worry the doctors are used to being crapped on.

Considering that most pregnant women are so constipated during their pregnancy, it is absolutely normal to have a BM as a result of all that pushing. Don't worry, the doctors and nurses have seen it before (and worse).

That is very normal. At the onset of labour, nurses will usually give an enema, which cleans the system out and prepares the body for the expulsion of the child.

Yes it is . Some doctors will actually prescribe a enema to make the delivering mom feel better and more at ease.

Is he breast or bottle fed? Have you spoken to the Dr. He may be colicky or if formula fed you may need to change the brand. Occasionally gas drops are recommended but I am a tummy rubber, rub clockwise on the stomach, or place him on his tummy and rub his back. I am sorry that he is not feeling well. P.S. If he is bottle fed, from what I learned in nursing school he may need to be pooping more..

it happens all the time and the nurses are used to it. If you are worried, you can request an enema if you have not had a bm prior to your admission to the hospital. Sometimes enemas actually stimulate labor.
