I have nightmares just about every night. They're not recurring or brought on by a particular traumatic event in my life. Sometimes, I'm not even in the dream, and it's like I'm watching a movie.

I'm stressed out, but not too much more than any typical college student. I don't eat too unhealthily and I exercise. I'm not on medication and I don't do drugs. I also stay away from scary movies like "The Exorcist." Yet I have these terrible dreams that are so vivid that there's no way I can realize within the dream that it IS a dream and do that whole lucid dream thing. Because I'm woken up by these dreams, I can't get a full night of sleep, and I'm very tired during the day.

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of my nightmares? I'm not religious, so praying wouldn't help. I've heard that herbs may work, but what kind of herbs?

It's amazing what disturbing, gruesome, graphic, and violent things my mind can think of in my sleep, and I want it to stop. Can anyone help?

What she went through was traumatic. Don't know if she will be able to just 'stop having' these dreams, Gus. However, Pray in time she will. She needs to seriously get some extensive Counseling. I believe it is time to reach out for Professional Help. Also, a Medical Professional needs to possibly prescribe an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication. I would imagine there is some depression related to this accident. Remain a good support system, as always. Time will have to play a factor in this situation, but, like stated above, consider the Professional Avenues on this. Good luck and take care!

first off what would be the best thing is to talk to a psychologist/psychiatrist and find out what could be wrong. it could be that there is something that is bothering you or eating away at you that has been seeded and you may not realize it. you could also be more stressed than you think.also try not to eat at least 3 hrs. before you go to bed. a dream catcher does really help. if you can, try to get an AUTHENTIC dream catcher. the way it works is you put it above your bed and when you have a bad dream it gets caught in the web and when the sun comes up it disintegrates in the sunlight and you won't remember it. if your not comfortable with a therapist try talking to a school counselor or someone you really trust. maybe just getting it all off your chest will help a lil. good luck and i wish you the best with that.

dreams are pretty much your subconscious letting you know whats up. so it's probably most likely that something is bothering you, your stressed or something serious may be wrong. the easiest solution is that you talk to someone and just ease your load. a lil bit.

weird weird dreams you get every nite in your dreams, you call them nightmares, just because they make you feel scared, they psychic ability of some people is much more powerful then the others, yours in this case can be a possibility, there are other dimensions, other planes of existence which our five senses cannot hear or see, but when we are asleep our senses are not working, the brain is a very powerful thing, your brain probably channels itself to these other dimensions, like you said it's like watching a movie and your not in any of them, you see things, things that are different from this plane of existence. and they scare you, there are things alive beyond this dimension, we just don't know what they look like or so, thus we get frightened when we see things that look 'different' . I personally think your psychic abilities are stronger then most people and you should focus on them more and grow into it and learn to be not afraid of them. and those nightmares might not be there anymore. if there are things evil that you see, maybe you should try finding a psychic, lots of natural born psychics out there. maybe they can help you with it.

Study dream analysis based on sound psychological principles, like the work of Fritz Perls. Start a dream diary and write down every dream as soon as possible, in detail, then ask yourself questions about them in the morning, like "what did the bull want?" and your emotions too. Then do an analysis of them all. Try your library and check out: http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/ [dreamdictionary/ THIS SITE CENSORS THE NAME OF OTHER WEBSITES]Valerian may work, but only use it for a short period; it is NOT a long term solution. Consider analysis or counselling if all else fails.

I will try to explain this so that you can understand. I take it that you are being tormented by these dreams that is trying to instill fear in you. First you have to realize, and ask yourself what are you opening yourself up to that is causing you to have these dreams. Is it witchcraft? You don't have to be religious to understand that there's a spiritual realm beyond this physical realm we see. And for the most part their are different spirits that influence people in the spiritual realm. Whether you believe that or not, it's true. If you truly want peace and rest, the "only" option is to turn to and seek God. You can go to a Psychologist(??) and it will be just a temporary fix, you could take medicine and it will still be a temporary fix. You might not like wha i'm telling you but it's Truth. and the "Only" one that can help is Jesus Christ.

just tell yoursel you are not going to have nightmares or scary dreams before you go to sleep.

Another thing you can do, is address the issues causing these nightmares.

You need Jesus. Believe that Christ died for your sins and rose on the third day. Pray to God, ask Him to forgive you for your sins, and that you believe in Christ. Now, ask Him to take your nightmares away. Read the Word.....i can tell you now, those dreams are not from God. Satan hates all things holy, so read the Word and believe in Christ that you may be with your Father in heaven.
