when a country's army is as technologically advanced as america likes to boast, why is it that they embarrass themselves in iraq against simple goat herders who live in tents and caves?
the french foreign legion is known throughout the world for their superior fire-power and ingenious military strategy. most of those in the legion are recruited fresh from the university, so they at least have skills and brains.
people in the american army, on the other hand, enlist because they want to go to school or they simply can't find another job.

that is a good point. throughout history america has always gotten itself into trouble and the french had to bail them out. vietnam, the revolutionary war, the war of 1812, wwi, and wwii...i don't know if they intervened in korea (it wouldn't suprise me if they did), but most of the time, it's either through the french secret service or financially and under the table by the french govenment. the french warned america not to go into iraq in the first place. looks like they'll have to bail the americans out again this time too. also, that is a good point about the difference between the legion and the american army. people join the legion out of real choice, not not forcibly through economics.

The French Foreign Legion has far more numbers than the SAS, but both units have different purposes in warfare. The SAS are better trained.

I doubt it if there is any fire power in the world that is designed for this kind of war. The enemy is not well known and not well defined. The insurgents are the everyday people you find on the streets. You can hardly identify which one of them is going to be the next suicide bomber.

What the French active involvement would have brought about would be better diplomacy. France enjoys good relationship with most of the Arab countries, because of the large population of Arab nationals leaving in France. At least it would give them a partial confidence that their kith and keens are somehow involved on the issue.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING. THE FRENCH AND WAR DON'T BELONG IN THE SAME SENTENCE. WHAT WAS THE LAST WAR THE FRENCH WON? I DON'T REMEMBER EITHER. IF THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION IS SO GOOD WHY HAVE THE MUSLIMS IN FRANCE ALMOST BURNED THE COUNTRY TO THE GROUND. I THINK WE HAD THIS CONVERSATION BEFORE. YOU'RE TOO HIGH ON THE FRENCH THEY ARE KNOWN TO LEAVE A BATTLE BEFORE IT'S DONE. THE WORLD OVER KNOWS THAT THE FRENCH ARE SOFT. STOP ACTING LIKE THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION IS ANY GOOD MAYBE IN THE TIMES OF OLD THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOOD BUT HAD THEY BEEN ANY GOOD FRANCE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN INVADED AS MANY TIMES AS IT HAS. THE FRENCH AND WAR NOW THAT'S A LAUGH.

Because Congress has put so many rules into place that they have to follow before they can do anything - it's just dragging things out.

As for the French helping... go to google and type in "French Military Victories" and then click on I'm feeling lucky.....

The French foreign legion would probably be welcome although it wouldn't change much. One thing good about the legion is they are for the most part not French.

The French foreign leigion is of dubious loyalty since it is made up of hired soldiers. The French military is a joke. French military prowess has consisted of surrendering to every major power on earth, along with a few minor ones. French military hardware is crap as well, although it is usually in good unused, only dropped once condition.
The enemy in Iraq are not goat herders, goats dont do well in the desert. The enemy in Iraq are fanatic morons who dont care if they die, they are willing to give their worthless lives up for the dictator du jour. These guys have quite good weapons thanks to the European powers who snuck around the UN sanctions and set up Saddam with the latest and greatest weapons systems, including the material for WMDs. The main problem with the war in Iraq is that the Americans are playing by the rules (dont use children and civilians as shields, dont use places of worship as sniper nests, dont kill your own guys, etc) and the bad guys arent.
Before you go on with your holier than thou goofiness, try to get your facts straight.
