some English teams will tour around many parts of the world after the end of the season for pre-season friendly matches. Manchester United & Liverpool occassionally have played their matches in Asia, particularly in the Far East & South East of Asia. Chelsea have played in the UNITED STATES while Arsenal compete in the annual Amsterdam tournament in the NETHERLANDS.

This was a popular thing to do years ago during the close season, especially if the team in question had just won the Cup or League. They would come home from a tour of the USA, or South Africa, or whatever, just in time for the new season to begin.

It gradually dawned on the clubs that it was not such a good idea, as they would under perform in the new season, due to their players not having a rest during the summer break, so the practice gradually fizzled out.
