Man. His name was Adam. Immediately following Adam was a woman made from his rib and her name was Eve. They were created from the hands of God and then the reproduction cycle began with all human life coming from the womb of the woman with the help of the man putting it there of course! This is just how it is, nothing selfish about it as some are saying.

In the beginning, God created man. Man walked around the garden, and named everything as if he owned it. He staked out his claim and surveyed all as king of his domain. Then, when he was totally comfortable, as master of the garden, God looked in on him. God saw the work that man had done, and decided that it was not “meet” for him to be alone. In fact, man alone is a dangerous thing…idle hands and all of that…
So God designed woman. Woman would balance out man…or that is to say that she would be his opposite. Where man THOUGHT he ruled all, woman would KNOW who really ruled all. Where man TRIED to do his best, woman would DO her best.
Between the two, they managed to eat the forbidden fruit, lose paradise, and end up in the cold and dreary world where they would have to live by the sweat of their brow all of the days of there lives.

Well I guess a woman,I guess that means that God is a woman. Although there have been cases recently where lizards with no gender at all,that were separated from other animals ,lizards,etc,gave birth without having another partner.
Survival of the species,and these lizards had no gender at all I guess,they just evolved into survival mode.
