Well, sounds like you just happen to not have any close friends that are black, nothing wrong with that. It may have to do with not having many in the community where you live. You may have had a bad experience with someone in your past that was black. Also we as people tend to be uncomfortable with things we are not so familiar with. I personally think that just by chance you have not come by a person (with dark skin/black) to have the chance to develop a relationship with. Don't read too much into it. Sounds like timing to me, nothing more.

WHY? I think that's unnecessary. Just be yourself. People are very intuitive. It doesn't matter the color. We as black people don't want the pretense! We prefer sincerity. At least that's the what I appreciate. I don't care what color people are. I just like people around me to be real, down to earth and to just be themselves. You'll find that a lot of black people would appreciate that more. It's not like we're aliens from another planet and that if you're not on your game, we'll devourer you! Just be yourself!

I don't think you should feel like you have to over compensate for anyone. Treat everyone the same. Talk to everyone the same. Be yourself. I think everyone appreciates that more than anything else.

unless you have ever enslaved an african american yourself, then you shouldnt feel any guilt. you aren't responsible for what your ancestors did. just be yourself, be courteous, but dont 'over do' it. nobody likes a fake, especially when its obvious you are being fake. a lot of african americans take just as much offense if a white person is being overly nice or fake like you are talking about.

No harm in being nice
I'm sure they like and appreciate you being nice to them a lot more than they like the people being racist to them.

so what are you saying? that when you see white people you are mean. its just all in your mind, and if anything they are probably feeling the same way also, people need to get over themselves
