Either Hamlet or Macbeth or King Lear. Oh heck, I can't think of one I didn't like. But I especially love the dark ones where the hero is plagued with a tragic flaw and inadvertently causes what he most fears. His plays are not only perfectly written but they are astounding psychological studies of the internal landscapes of the characters. His insight into human nature was incredible!

I started school when I was 15 (yeah- long story!) and entered ninth grade half way through Julius Caesar. We then went on to Romeo and Juliet...
I have read them all- I am a fanatical admirer of Bill.
And my favourite is R & J because of the location and romance of it (I played Mercutio despite being a girl), my favourite from a visual MOVIE experience is Much Ado About Nothing (which, incidently is my FAV film of ALL TIMES) and I adore Hamlet. I love the psychology of it all. He was not mad- he was just very troubled.
The Merchant of Venice and Midsummer Night's Dream are ace too.
And then there is Henry The Vth!
Taming Of The Shrew...
You will have fun. Believe me.
Once you have read them get thee to a theatre and see them as they were intended to be enjoyed! It is something I cannot begin to describe!

I've always been a fan of Mr. William Shakespeare, both in and out of school. I've seen movies of both his tragedies and comedies. But my favorite play was one I read on my own. Othello, The Moor of Venice. It deals with jealousy and mistrust in the most intense way and shows how those traits are both present and cultivated in the tragic hero.

Julius Caesar was my favourite, too. I love the character of Marcus Brutus and his reaction to the situations he found himself in. Each time I read this play I like it more and more (though, I must admit, the first time I read it in 10th grade my friend and I laughed at it quite a bit).

Much Ado About Nothing, because it is so funny and the battle of the sexes is so well-portrayed.
Romeo and Juliet, because it has got to be the most romantic love story ever told.

'Macbeth' for the tragedies; it has some of the greatest speeches, and the story is compelling and contemporary - the lengths to which even a noble man will go to serve ambition.
'A Midsummer Night's Dream' for the comedies - Bottom is one of my favourite comic Shakespearean characters.

Mine has always been Romeo and Juliet. I first saw it in my literature class and I fell in love with it. It is so emotional and sad.
