Use a very sharp knife (like a carving knife) and cut the root ball into 3 equal pieces. Repot them and keep it properly watered for the first few weeks with a little fertilizer after a couple of days so that you don't burn the roots just after they were cut.

If there are babies in the soil under it, that would be the easiest way, but if not then just take and cut a small unflowered branch off and put it into a container of water. Put it in filtered morning sunlight. It should start to sprout roots in about 2 weeks or so. After the roots appear, leave it in the water for at least 2 more weeks, and then transplant it into soil. Keep it watered (once a week or so) and in filtered light until your sure the roots have taken. (2 to 3 weeks) Remember to keep it watered. After you are sure it has taken, you can give it a little fertilizer. Good luck.

Good answers. Philodendrons root easily in water. If you choose to cut the mother plant's root ball water it with "Root Stimulator" Fertilome makes a good product I've used with great success. It eliminates transplant shock for all plants. Have fun
