That will erase the virus, and all your data as well. Most computers come with a re installation disk. Insert it into the CD drive and reboot your computer. You should see a prompt of some sort asking you to boot from the CD, say yes and follow the instructions. Be aware, this will erase ALL of the data and files on your disk.

well, if it works you can try going to "www.pcpitstop.com" and test your computer for free and if you wish anonymously just click on the key(s). Then choose to sign up or don't. Once test are done go to the highlighted words "test results" to see all the test details. And you should be able to find the program and delete it in safe mode.
Setting the computer to safe mode. Just go to the start button/ run and type in "msconfig" and select safe mode.
If you just want to completely erase the drive go to "www.seagate.com" and download there installation software to floppy disks and once the computer is booted there is a program to write zero's to the drive under utilities.Select full not Quick!
just remember to use the floppy version and not the one for windows or you'll have to make them anyways.
Hope This Helps!

If you have your recovery disk that came with your machine, stick it in your CD/DVD drive and run the install. It will bring your system back to the configuration it was in when you bought it. If you don't have a recovery disc, contact the manufacturer. Nowdays most have a recovery image on a hidden partition and they can tell you how to restore your computer to factory specs without the recovery disc. This is why most manufacturers don't supply a recovery disc anymore, unless you specifically order one with it. With my IBM's I am prompted to press F11 at POST when booting up to start system recovery. It runs an installation just like I popped in the recover disc.

If it has a virus, some good antivirus program can detect it. Formating your hard drive is a drastic step. Try consulting an expert and find your problem.

reformat it. back up any files/programs you need first. then put in your windows cd and boot up your computer. it will come to a menu. your best bet is to delete the old partition then reinstall windows. good luck!
