if her sickness is between 20-30 times a day she could be suffering from hyperemisis and I suggest she sees her GP to check her keytones - maybe she needs Stemitil an anti sickness drug - but this is only available if she has hyperemisis.
Everyone says saltine crackers - and personally they havent worked for me - with my both my children I had hyperemisis, my 1st lasted till 16 weeks, and I am at 11 weeks and still suffering with my 2nd.
Try chewing gum, having a ice pole to keep you hydrated, drink little and often, and as for food, eat what you fancy - small meals though.
Ginger is supposed to be good also, ginger biscuits etc..
My midwife did mention you can have accupuncture to help cure it - but make sure you go to a professional which deals with it for pregnancy

I have a box of fortified cereal (Life, Cheerios) with me at all times. It calms my stomach down and, because the cereal is fortified, provides me with some pretty good nutrition. Plus, I can eat it in small doses.
I've also found that there is a direct correlation between how tired and how nauseous I feel. I try to sleep at least 8.5 hours a night, and that helps a lot. If I'm feeling particularly ill, a nap usually makes me feel better.
I also find that low blood sugar, or an empty stomach, tends to make things worse. When possible, I have a large, late high protein dinner, so that it will stay with me into the morning. I eat before I do just about everything when I wake up, which also helps.
If she can try to eat protein, like a piece of american cheese, it would help a lot. The trick is to find whatever doesn't make her sick and eat it as long as she can, in small doses at a time. Of course, she should do her best to remain hydrated.
If it is really bad, she can ask her doctor to prescribe something. I've known many women to take pills or go to the hospital for a drip, just to be safe. Hope she feels better, and it WILL pass. Congrats, grandma!

well for me, the crackers did not work at all, sorry but sometimes they work and sometimes they just don't work. The dr told me that i needed to stay away from foods that have alot of seasoning in it. All i could eat was solid foods with little or no seasoning. I would eat salads with crackers, baked chicken with just salt, plain jane pasta, fruits..........just solid foods. I went through the vomiting thing for the first three months, i know what you are going through, it kicked my butt, i didn't think it would ever go away, but eventually it does and if it doesn't, ask your dr to give you something, cause there is medicines that the dr can give you.

sipping ice cold water and trying to eat dry toast seemed to ease mine off. saying that ATM food is not as important as her keeping fluids down even if she just sips some water of a small spoon ever 10Min's or so.if she is still struggling maybe call the doctor for advice you don't want her to dehydrate that will make her feel 100 times worse ( if possible )

Try not to let her stomach get completely empty. I'm almost 9 weeks and I was exactly the same way in my 5-7th week. Once I got the hang of keeping something on my stomach, it seemed to disappeared the 2nd day into my 8th week.

I had the same thing happen with all of my pregnancies..I found that eating cold pickles (the sour ones)help A LOT! I would suck on lemons, eat saltine crackers and drink ginger ale (caffiene free) for the nausea and it would go away almost immediatly...These have worked great for me and im sure they will work good for her too..good luck and congratulations on your new grandbaby!!
