"867-5309/Jenny" is a song written by Alex Call and Jim Keller and performed by Tommy Tutone which peaked at Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1982.
The lyrics imply that it was the real phone number of a girl named Jenny, which was acquired from a mens' room wall. The song caused a fad of people dialing 867-5309 (which was then a valid phone number in dozens of area codes) and asking for "Jenny". The band and label eventually changed their story as to the number's origins, claiming it to be a random number that the songwriters came up with.
A lot of people with that phone number, had it disconnected, due to the large amount of prank calls.

yeah it's the name of a song from waaay back in the day and no I never tried to call it but, can you image the poor slobs who had that number when the song came out in different area codes getting called all the time, "umm yes hello is Jenny there?"

Are You Kidding me???..I ran my Dad's bill up over a 100.00 that day..just going through every area code there was and calling the ones that answered over and over...I LOVED the 80's!!!!!!
