last sunday,and I am in love.. with the book I am obsess
In the movie Odelle starts singing the song bertha sings... just got me thinking that maybe the was some sort of connection i was missing... also in the book is there anymore about blanche? in the movie they leave waiting for him to call upon her for marriage...and thats the last we see of her....

No. Bertha comes from Jamaica and has never (as far as we know) been to France. Adele is the daughter of a French dancer and comes from Paris. The dancer in question claimed that Edward Rochester was Adele's father, but since she had been unfaithful to him and Adele didn't resemble him in any way, he had serious doubts in the matter (which is why she called him "Monsieur Rochester", if you noticed!) Still, she had been abandoned and he assumed responsibility for her, as there was nobody else to do so.

If you ever read Jean Rhys's "The Wide Sargasso Sea" (or see the film), you might well begin to think of Bertha Mason as a French speaker. But no, she was from Jamaica.
