Was the furnace making any odd noise prior to the heat not working? There is a "squirrel cage" as it is call on the motor that spins and blows the heat out through the vents. If the cage is broken or damaged then it can be related to the fact there is not heat. The cage looks like an exercise wheel for mice or thew sort. It has vents and these vents circulate the air out of the furnace. What you might be feeling is air from the cold air return vents that has not been heated or circulated through the furnace.
Call your heating maintenance company and they might be able to help you over the phone for free if thee is no on site call dispatched.

Are your filters clean? Dirty ones prevent the furnace from working properly.
Propane or natural gas? If propane, how much do you have in your tank? If you are too low in the tank it will make pressure unstable in house lines and cause furnace not to work right. Natural gas....if you check all the things below, have the gas company come out and check their meter, the regulator might not be letting enough gas through to the furnace.
Try seeing if the thermostat has quit working. Turn it all the way down to 50 or as low as it goes, leave it there for a few minutes then turn back up to a temp above the current room temperature. Listen carefully, did the furnace kick on? if not then you probably have a bad thermostat. An easy fix.
If it did kick on then goes back off, the thermocoupler might have gone bad. These are easy fixes as well.
If it comes on, runs for a short time then goes back off...have the flame sensors checked.

Hubby would be glad to help, but has a few questions.

1. Do you have a thermostat that goes between heat and air? If so, is it set to "heat"? (kids love fiddling with that one).
2. Is your thermostat properly set and are there any lamps near it? Lamps under the thermostat are about half of the calls he gets this time of year (he works for the utility company doing emergency repairs to furnaces and underground gas lines).
3. Is there a 'glow coil' in your furnace? He's wondering if you know the exact details of the furnace (maker, model number).

If it's a forced air furnace make sure the door is shut top and bottom, but other than that call a heating repair from your fuel delivery service. Don't mess with it yourself it's dangerous
