Yes, that is why you are so tired. Fatigue is such a common symptom of pregnancy that it is considered one of the early signs.
You DO need more sleep while you are pregnant. Anytime that the alarm wakes you up before you wake up naturally means you did not get enough rest.
You need to start taking naps during the day if at all possible. Even if you cannot actually sleep if you can just elevate your legs and rest for about 30 minutes it would help.
You will need to find a way to get more rest as your pregnancy progresses.
Good luck dear and try to take good care of yourself. Taking care of you is taking care of your baby.
Love and Blessings

Yes, it is very common for pregnant women to feel sleepy and, if they are able, to sleep a lot. This is particularly true early on, in the first trimester. Most women feel more alert in the second trimester. Some feel sleepy again in the third. Even so, it should be nothing like 18 hours a day. That much would probably be cause for concern. I would say that I would get about 8 or 9 hours a night and then around 3 PM would want a nap of 30-90 minutes.

I think this varies per woman and pregnancy. With my first, I felt more tired especially in the first 3 or 4 months, with my 2nd I was tired the whole time, 3rd more tired the last couple of months, and my 4th seemed like I slept the fewest maybe 7 hrs a night tops. With the first 2 I worked evenings (2-midnight) the last 2 I worked nights (11 pm to 7 am), so I had odd sleep times anyways. good luck on getting some good sleep!

i'm tired and i have only been up for 4 hours. i've never slept more in my life. and i need it. it is an exhausted tiredness, not a lazy tiredness.
everything i've read says that when you are pregnant, you should have 1 to 2 hours of sleep more than before. i'm getting 9 to 10 hours of 'rest' (not sleeping well) time, previously i was getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night.
good luck!

Hormones!!!!!!!!! By 5 months it will get better! It did for me and then by 7 months I felt tired again!!!! You should have 6 to 8 weeks of feeling better soon! Everyone is different! I have had friends tell me they stayed sick and tired the whole 9 months and some say they felt super in the whole pregnancy, so everyone is different and every pregnancy is too! Best wishes!~

yea fatigue is a big part of pregnancy actually that is how i found out i was pregnant. its normal to be tired all the time, but just rest when your body is telling you to rest, i know at work it can be hard, i have FMLA so if i get too tired and know i need to rest i can take the rest of the day off for, that. but if you cant do that then make sure you can take a nap or something after work. good luck.

Yes, it's due to hormonol changes and the fact that your body is growing another whole person!!! It's usually worst in the first few months and the last few months. Take your vitamins, eat well and go ahead and indulge...get as much sleep as you can now, after the baby comes there won't be any sleeping LOL

yes it is because your pregnant...your body is going through alot and you have a baby in you so your authomatically gonna feel drained. Its mainly the changes of your body and the growth of the baby in you why your feeling worn out..
