what are the two things that i must get when i own a site and how do i get these?

To get a domain you need to apply for the domain name of you choice through ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Once you have ownership of the domain name you need to find a place to host your domain so that you can access the domain from the internet. There are also a number of providers that will perform both of these tasks for you, but they are still going though ICANN get register the domain.
