This is for the desktop search. It allows you to search for files located on your computer. It is helpful if you save a file someplace, but can't remember to where you saved it. If is also a quick way to get to a file if you don't want to go through the directory pathway to get to it.

The indexing is basically when the program identifies all of the files on your computer so when you search it can sort through the files to find the one you want.

Indexing creates a table space in a database with the most pertinent information on the files in your computer. So when you perform a search it can first go to the index in an attempt to find what you are looking for rather than scanning every file on your hard drive which requires much more resources and takes a lot longer to actually perform.

it keeps a seperate log off all pages that you visited, and even when you erase your history from E explorer it will still be in the google index, so when you need information desktop will have more than any other program
