crafty so and so's........so technically you will have been there a year by the time you finish. I dont think you are netitled to any compo, im sure you have to be there two years.

You are entitled reasonable time off though to look for a job as obviously everywhere will be shut if you left it till 5 when you finished..... if you fear being skint ..you could try getting a temp or part time night job to run alongside your current job. I know it will be exhaustive but in a months time you wont have any dollar...so think about it. Good luck, be wise.

No you are an employee at will so you are not entitled to anything in fact they are being generous for giving such a long notice. Time to find a new job. If you can you will have overlapping paychecks and it will be like getting a bonus. Think Positive.
Some Advice don't make a legal battle with the boss. Those who do have a black cloud hanging over them for ever. The thought process is YOU can't get along. You don't want to send that message.

No im afraid not. I got made redundant from my position of 20 months last friday and was only given my 1 months notice period. they are not entitled to give you anything.

No. You have to be in employment for 2 years or more to qualify for redundancy payment. Your employer only has to give the the notice period required under the terms of your contract of employment.

This is the legal position. Some private employers make arrangements that are in excess of the legal minimum if they so wish.

Highly unlikely. You usually have to be with a company a minimum of two years before being entitled to redundancy. You will be able to claim unemployment benefit or job seekers allowance though. (Wow!)

You also don't get full employment rights until you've been there a year - 11 months is more common than you think for "redundancies".

What is going on. You are the fourth person since yesterday that i have heard say they are being made redundant. Is this something that happens ever January. I feel sorry for you, shame, take care :))

Not if they don't have it to offer. It sounds more like severance pay to me, or do you have to work that month out?

Consider yourself lucky. In this day and age of employment, doors just close. I know...after working for 2 years for an appraisal company as an appraiser, the doors shut one Monday morning never to open again. Tell me about a crisis!

Another door will open for you...guaranteed.

No, you have to have been employed by them for two years. For more advice, go to the TUC website or contact your local citizens advice bureau - they may be able to negotiate a better deal, but you're not entitled to anything else by law.

I think that you are pretty stuffed until you've been with the company for 2 years. I think they only have to pay you your notice.......

Bummer
