The 1975 series between Boston and Cincinnati is the greatest Series I have ever seen. The Carlton Fisk interference/obstruction call, Dwight Evans' catch, Fisk's homerun, Carbo's 2 pinch hit homeruns, Morgans bloop hit to win the Series.....so many great memories

As a Pirate fan l would have to say that the 1960 World Series between the Pirates and the Yankees would have to be one of the most exciting in history. Especially game 7, when the game kept going back and forth. lt finally ended in the bottom of the ninth inning with one of the most dramatic endings ever. Bill Mazeroski's home run over the left field wall in Forbes Field gave the Buc's a 10-9 victory and made them the World Champs! What a series, l was 8 years old.

In my lifetime, the greatest World Series was the 2002 World Series. The Anaheim Angels winning the World Series was like the movie "Angels in The Outfield" when the California Angels went from last place to division champioins. For the 2002 Anaheim Angels, they went from last place to being the 2002 American League Wild Card Winners to being the 2002 American League Champions to becoming the 2002 World Series Champions in seven games against the San Francisco Giants.

I'm and A's fan so I have to go with the only win of theirs that I can remember, 1989 over the Giants. The Bay Series. And even though they lost to the Dodgers in 88 that was still a very good series.
Without being biased though, I think the series between the Phillies and Blue Jays was a great one. I'll never forget Joe Carter's homer off of Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams to win the series.

It's a tie between these two.

The 1986 Mets vs. Red Sox. Game 6 alone was one of the most incredible and memorable games in World Series history.

The 1977 Yankees vs. Dodgers. Reggie Jackson hitting 4 home runs in 4 consecutive at bats. What most people don't remember is that he hit a home run in game 5 in his last at bat in LA. The series then moved back to NY where he hit 3 consecutive home runs in a row. Unreal!!

That's tough, I only remember back so far. (born in 1983)

I would probably rank my top five in roughly this order.

1991 - Minnesota over Atlanta (4-3)
-As a Twins fan this one ranks at the top. It was a great series, even as a little kid I knew how huge it was and it was one of the major reasons why I love the game of baseball as much as I do now. Kirby's homer. Morris' ballsy performance. The back-and-forth tension. It was an instant classic.

1993 - Toronto over Philadelphia (4-2)
-Joe Carter's blast to win it was the stuff little kids dream about when they're taking batting practice with their dads. It was legendary.

1996 - New York over Atlanta (4-2)
-I'll admit, I like the Yankees back in '96...granted just about everyone outside of Boston and Atlanta was pulling for the Yankees in '96. The Yankees had sucked for a long-time, but a new crop of home-grown talent like Jeter, Williams and Rivera had come in and appeared to be huge underdogs. Great series that started the new Yankees dynasty.

2001 - Arizona over New York (4-3)
-This series was great. New York was expected to squash the D-Backs, but gutsy performances by Co-MVPs Schilling and Johnson as well as clutch hitting from the entire D-Backs team and especially Luis Gonzalez put an end to the run of Yankee post-season dominance.

2002 - Los Angeles/Anaheim over San Francisco (4-3)
-As baseball fans we all must have done something right to earn two back-to-back World Series like '01 and '02. This series was tight the entire way. The Giants had led a great charge down the stretch and the Angels squad of gamers and a fire-balling bullpen were set on a geographical collision course. An incredible series that didn't garner nearly enough ratings to justify how good it really was.

Honorable Mention:

1997 - Florida over Cleveland (4-3)
-Most of the series was mediocre, but game seven was awesome and earns this seven-game series an honorable mention.

2003 - Florida over New York (4-2)
-No one gave the Marlins a chance, but they overcame the odds to slay the mighty Yankees. Personally, I thought the ALCS and NLCS were actually both better head-to-head matchups than the World Series, but I'll stick with the question.

As a biased Jays fan, I'd have to go with 1993. There were several memorable games and events during the Series, capped off of course by Joe Carter's Series-winning home run. I remember all of us just going crazy, hugging anyone around us. I thought it was sweet to win in '92, but winning consecutive titles in such dramatic fashion was even better.

There have, of course, been other great ones - Reds-Sox, Yanks-Diamondbacks, Twins-Tigers in '91, but it's that 1993 Series that will always top my list.

1991 Twins 4 - Braves 3
The seventh game 10 inning shutout by Jack Morris is the single best performance ever in a World Series (yes, even better than Jackson's 3 homer game).

1975 Reds 4 - Red`Sox 3
A great series, a great sixth game.

The 1975 World Series between Boston & Cincinnati was, in my opinion, the best World Series ever played. Cincinnati won the series in seven games.
