Yeah, I know, they're old! but I like them a lot. I'm not a native speaker of English and they weren't either so I'd like to know if they had an accent when singing (I can't tell, I have a strong accent myself).
Thanks in advance...

You can hear the accent on certain songs (like Fernando) more than others. That was part of what made them unique and got people into their music (plus...the blond was also very hot).

I believe that what is most noticeable about someone who is Swedish speaking English is the stress being put on the wrong part of words. Many English words where the beginning should be stressed are actually stressed at the end of the word.

This is similar I find with people from Germany. In general I think that accent is much subtler than my own trying to speak Spanish. Every time I try to speak Spanish I am told how badly I butcher the language and that I'm not rolling my "r"s. Oh well...

Since the major market for selling music is the United States, most pop groups (Beatles, Stones, Abba, etc.) practice singing without accents. I remember seeing an interview with one of the Beatles when they admitted this.

I love ABBA! Just a little bit of an accent, but it's part of their uniqueness. Note to Nas...they didn't sing "Walk Like an Egyptian", that was The Bangles

They had a little accent but its very hard to pick up on. If you like Abba so much then you should look in to A*Teens. They sing Abba's songs, and they are great to listen to. Don't get me wrong theres nothing that compares to how Abba sings it.

I don't detect one when listening to them. Most people don't have accents when singing in English. If you listen to Robert Plant, the Police or Artic Monkeys or any other singers from England when they speak their accest is very heavy but when they sing you can't even tell they are from England.

i can't really hear an accent. A lot of singers sound so much different singing than talking.

I even have green eyes to boot. To make mine stand out i take advantage of a contrasting colour - Violet, Raisin, Plum. Gold additionally works ok. i take advantage of darkish colorations lined around the eyes, with easy accents on the corners and merely below the browbone. The purple tones make my eyes look SO green when I placed on them. Browns and whatnot make my eyes a dash darker, so I placed on those while i'm feeling introverted. undergo in strategies, accentuating and making something stand out is ultimate finished by assessment - evaluate the fairway against the purple tones and the fairway seems greater.

I think when you sing you use a different part of your brain so the accent won't be the same as when you speak.
