I tried a telemarketing job a few years ago....it was horrible! You didn't make any good money unless you made a lot of sales (or appointments). Neither of which are not easy to make. All day long you sit on your butt...with a phone to your ear reading a script....people are rude to you, you get hung up on.....it's just not a career!!

I did telemarketing for about 5 months. Honestly, it was a really fun job, and the pay was pretty good, too. Most people I know who also did telemarketing loved it. You just have to have really thick skin - 60% of the people you call are going to simply hang up on you or become very angry. If you can deal with that, then you've got yourself a fun, well-paying job. It's especially great for students who need flexibility in their schedule. Good luck!

You coul be a telemarketer, but not much people respect or like them. Imagine all those times where you answered the phone to people trying to sell you something over the phone, and imagine what you said or did or thought while talking with them (unless you hung up). Then think on if you would like that as a career.

Its all up to you. The pitfalls - people will be continuously hanging up on you and telling you that they are not interested.

i would say the worst part would be dealing with rejection on a daily, and probably hourly basis. you have to be able to stay friendly while calling people that don't want to talk to you.
