hi joanna,

desperate situ? well anyone who says that "this is the only place you can view..." are in for a shock. because it isnt! Deleting "history" only clears the list, all sorts are still resident on your hard drive.

you can delete your history, by going into tools etc...delete cookies, and delete files....then ...go into settings and view files. click on the green up arrow and open the folder temp..they're still there!!!!!
delete these, but you may find it wont let you delete them all, dont worry.

Come out of there and switch off your internet.

do a file search, you know how, course you do. search and delete all *.tmp files..... then do another search...and this is the killer....search for the word "recent". you may get 4 or 5 folders. open each one and check the contents delete everything you find. You should find at least 2 folders with stuff in that you thought by now you had deleted.

come out of search and do a disk clean up. Reboot your machine and run your antivirus just to be safe. NOW they are gone.

I know this sounds long winded joanna but it only takes about 10 mins and you can be sure they are gone.

You could also try a "cleaner" but i have no experience with them so cant comment on their effectiveness.

Glad to have helped.

Defintely download a cleaner. Even if you delete the temporary internet files they are still easily found by anyone who knows anything about it. It's recommended that you go a minimum of 7 layers of deletion before it becomes difficult to re-trace. Nots ure why you want to delete things but if it's criminal :-) you really need to be careful as it's so easy to find anything you've done on a PC - whether it's been deleted or not. Do a web search and you should get some free downloads.

Open up "Internet Explorer." From the menu, choose "Tools" and then "Internet Options". Under "Temporary Internet Files", press "Delete Files" to remove all of the files. Under "HIstory" (right under "Temporary Internet Files"), set "Days to keep pages in History" to "0" and then click "Clear History".

This will only do this for your profile. If you logged in as another user on the same computer or the same user on a different computer, this will need to be done for that user/computer as well.

There is a free program called "Crap Cleaner" that allows removal of tons of temporary stuff. Microsoft has a free program on their website called "Tweak UI", and it has options that prevent most recent documents from showing up on the "Start Menu" and things like that.

Depends on which Browser you are using!..... You can usually get rid of your History on one of the menus at the top!...... Check Help File!

Alternatively get a 3rd party program (eg Scrubber?) which will erase all traces of an Internet session when you finish!

Careful you don't loose anything you REALLY wanted to go back to though!

The other solution is..... make sure you use you own Private computer, maybe use similar software that encrypts the URL's and have a removable hard-drive!....... Bit Extreme but....

I can help. Download Free CCleaner. When you visit webpages, it is stored in history and temp files. CCleaner will delete it. If you do NOT want it to be on your computer after deleting. Remember it is still on your computer. On CCleaner, go to options, settings. Click, Secure deletion. Then click from the drop down arrow, click 7 passes. It will be deleted 7 times. Also, clean your regstry for the heck of it. On CCleaner, click issues. Analyze and the fix the errors. Your computer will be faster.

Any Questions?

Thank you,

This is the only place you can view your history. To delete it go to Tools > Internet Options.

You will see on the General Tab the Browsing History subsection where you can delete your history and also specify how long if at all history is kept for.
