If you're looking for really strong magnets, you may be looking for "rare earth" magnets. These are stronger than the usual ones you'll see at craft and other regular stores, but there may be some around now.

You can find rare earth magnets online, or Radio Shack may have some.
This page at my site lists some other places, and also talks a bit about the differences between rare earth and other magnets:

Surprisingly enough, at Home Depot or Lowe's. They sell all different sizes and types- even in rolled up strips. By the way, magnets are great for healing up muscle and bone injuries. Research has proven that when magnets are applied regularly to a broken bone, the healing process can be as much as two thirds faster. The reason is because the magnets increase circulation where applied, and anytime you can bring more blood and oxygen into an area, everything heals quicker and better.

Get your hands on some used speakers (as from an old stereo sound system) and remove the magnets from the speakers. These magnets are very powerful. Put two of them together and you will be lucky to be able to pull them apart. I have some 6" dia. x about 1/2 " thick magnets that were removed from spekers and every once in a while they come in handy.
