I am planning on getting a breast reduction in the near future. I am just looking for some genernal answers. Like did anyone have to lose weight before hand. What size were you? What did you go down to. Did you stay over night? Did you have to stop smoking (if you smoke).
Are you have with your results?
I am hoping to get my done by the summer. I have to make an appointment for a consult within the next 2 weeks.

I am 21 and a size AU 10- 12 with G cup breasts and I just met with my surgeon a couple of weeks ago ( I'm having the surgery in 12 weeks) and will be reduced to a 12 D or DD
My surgeon did not make any comments about my weight and did not tell me that I had to lose any. If you are overweight Iwould advise that you try and lose some weight just to see what happens to your breasts- I lost 12 kilograms last year and my breasts actually grew 2 cup sizes so everyone is different. Even if you do lose weight you would most likely still want them done as they will probably need to be lifted. In regards to the smoking, I don't smoke but it is best if you stop smoking 3 weeks prior to surgery because smoking slows the bodys functions and so slows the healing process and makes surgery more dangerous.

If you have any more questions let me know and if I get mine done before you I can send you some before and after pics.

Good luck

The only thing I can tell you is that my friend (really is my friend) got a reduction. She doesn't have the shoulder and back pain anymore. They are so perky she doesn't even have to wear a bra for support. She stayed overnight in the hospital. Her insurance paid for it too. She didn't lose weight ahead of time, although she does have a few extra pounds. The smoking is important, some docs won't perform surgery if you are smoking. Might be a great time to try and give it up, you'll have a whole new body and lots more energy. Oh, my friend LOVES her new breasts. She was sore and needed plenty of rest for awhile, but it was well worth it. Good luck!

Some insurance companies want you to lose weight beforehand, or even go to a chiropractor. You would have to go to a doctor and the plastic surgeon and find out first. My ins co. did not require any of those things, I got approved within four weeks.

I was a 38J and went to a 38C when they took five pounds off my chest. I LOVE IT

I stayed in the hospital overnight. Some PS's let you go home the same day but I am glad I stayed over because there were nurses there in case of any problems.

You HAVE to stop smoking, or it will cause problems with healing.

I am very happy with my results.

You should consult with at least THREE plastic surgeons before choosing a doctor to take care of your surgery.

if you are overweight you really really really need to get down to an average weight before you make that kind of a decision because your boobs can shrink a LOT. If you are overweight, you need to lose weight and not rely on surgery to fix the problem. If you're a normal weight and your boobs are abnormally big beyond your comfort level, then consider surgery.
