I think more people do now. I've been on one that was 'raided'. They block all the exits and police come on while they check all the tickets. Maybe 10% were frogmarched off to pay a penalty (the bus went off leaving them behind). One person magically remembered to validate his Oyster Card as they came on board and they nabbed him too. I seem to hear the validors beeping much more now, so perhaps others have experienced these incidents. I was surprised during the 'raid' that so many people had valid tickets, so perhaps it is possible to judge people on appearances.

When the bendy buses first appeared on the streets of London, I naturally assumed they were a gift to the lower paid. I saw a cartoon in one of the papers recently with everyone looking up shocked at someone who had actually slapped their Oyster on the reader. Are you mad? As a fully paid up pensioner I naturally do not pay fares anyway, I've got the FREEDOM PASS. You do not have to wait until your 65 [male] to get this, everyone can have it from age 60. So if you're reading this and you are over 60 claim your FREEDOM PASS now.

Not everyone does get a valid ticket. In all of my 18 years I've only ever encountered about 8 bus inspectors (and I use a bus everyday). If I couldn't be a*sed to buy a ticket and I was feelings daring, I'd get on without paying. It's a blooming rip off anyway.

I think you're quite right.
I have once or twice refused to touch my oyster card when my bus decided to terminate prematurely and I had to catch another. I refuse to pay double the fare for the same journey, but I am sure that there are many who evade fares on a regular basis.
In fact, since there are so few inspections on these busses, would it not be economical to skip the fare every day and pay the fine when found out?

Despite what the authorities say, they are commonly known as the "free" bus services, and this is easily seen when if a bus is approached by ticket inspectors, most of the "passengers" suddenly "realise" that they've reached their destination and make a bolt for the doors (no pun intended!)

i think of advertising atheism is a amazing thought. i've got had to tolerate unwelcome Christian solicitations all my existence. everywhere i bypass, somebody is peddling Christian superstitions, one way or yet another. possibly it's time to combat hearth with hearth and turn the tables on unwelcome superstitious faith with a large atheist advertising campaign. If Christians do no longer like it, this is purely too damn undesirable. Christians have had virtually 2-thousand years to instruct their God exists and function failed completely. this is time for severe substitute. Human civilization might desire to be allowed to advance and prosper. Our destiny lies earlier us and ignorant superstition in basic terms holds humanity back. $9.seventy six won't even purchase my dinner. If those buses have been working in American cities, i could donate usually.

I think it depends on how far your going. How can they justify £2 for a single journey!!
I have seen many people jump off when the inspectors start asking for tickets, lol.
I normally don't bother paying or if I have my oyster card, don't bother swiping.......just got to be careful of the inspectors.

I have seen TfL staff on the bendy buses who are employed to do nothing but stand there, so people feel compelled to swipe their Oysters.

No they don't but be careful, controllers are always round the corner. I see passengers getting caught all the time. And controllers are tough, no one gets away with it, and they jump in when you least expect them, even late at night. Buy a ticket!
