Your answer depends on what type of a pregnancy test you are talking about. A blood test, which of course must be ordered by a doctor is capable of picking up the HCG in the bloodstream even before there is a missed period. If your friend has a doctor that will order a blood test for her this is the most accurate, early test available.
If you are talking about the at home tests which rely on the HCG that has by now become present in the urine, it will depend on the brand of the test, how fresh it is and whether or not she uses her first morning urine. All things being equal she should probably wait until she is 4 or 5 days late or try to purchase a kit that contains two units so that if one is negative she can try again.
BTW, a false negative is pretty common with the urine tests but a false positive is almost impossible.
Good luck and I hope she gets the answer that she wants.
Congratulations on your baby!
Blessings

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

It's different for every woman. With my first child the test didnt come back positive until I was 3months pregnant, and that included a blood test!! Doctor's couldnt believe it,but with my second child it was right away, about a week or so after I had missed my period. All the women I have coached were pretty much the same, they took a test after a week missed and it came back positive. I would just have her wait about a week and take a test....

There are tests out there that can detect on the first day of a missed period. Some even say they can detect up to 5 days before a missed period. I think her body usually will give her indications (e.g. morning sickness) before any test. Once a pregnancy test confirms, should see a dr for a blood test.

Some test can tell within 2 weeks of conception if you are pregnant and FYI: a woman can have a period and still be pregnant. My grandmother had a period every month for the first 6 months of her 2nd pregnancy.

I KNEW two days after my period failed to show up and I ovulate about 10 days before I am "due".

But it is possible for pregnancy tests to work within the first days of conception- check the packing on those you can buy.

Congrats to you by the way!

So enable's sparkling up some misconceptions the following, idea isn't a similar element as having sex. sex can ensue as a lot as 7 days before idea because idea takes position after ovulation, at maximum 24 hours after ovulation - and idea (fertilization) takes position 6-10 days before implantation, implantation ought to take position for a tremendous being pregnant attempt and takes position about 4 days before that attempt is effective. you're able to have sex 7+10+4 days (21) days before you get a tremendous attempt and nonetheless be pregnant, you'll hit upon out once a million+6+4 (11 days) (and a million day skill you opt on to have sex a minimum of one million day before ovulation for idea to ensue). attempt at round 21 days, or the day of the neglected era.

I didn't test a strong positive until one week after I skipped my period. So, that's 3 weeks after conception.
