Your ideas sound pretty good to me or vouchers for their favourite shop could be an idea.

I am very much into fashion, and went to my first fashion shoe overseas in Paris when I was in college. It was the best experience of my life, and very eye-opening. Not a cheap gift, though. If you can swing it, do the fashion show tickets! Even if it's not couture, a fashion show is so much fun!

I just saw the coolest book in Urban Outfitters the other day.... perfect for an aspiring fashionista with lots of creativity!
Its a book that has over 100 ways of taking a plain old t-shirt and turning it into some other sort of clothing. Its not that expensive, so maybe you could get the book to go with something else too! :) good luck

I think a book over different historical fashions could be cool. Seems like fashion recycles itself. Maybe a book over a certain icon she admires like Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe.

Does she design as well?? I know the art tools or drawing tools are probably expensive. Maybe a gift certificate to a store that she buys her supplies from for school?

those would both work but there would probably be a huge price diff. between the two
you could also do a gift card to his/her favorite designer
